City by the bay.
San Francisco, located in northern California, is the financial, cultural, and transportation center of the San Francisco Bay Area. It is the second most densely populated city in the United States after New York City. With numerous bays and waterways surrounding the area, navigating the city can be difficult at times. San Francisco city sits on the end of the peninsula, and south of the city is considered the Peninsula area. Next to Peninsula to the east is South Bay, or what is commonly known as Silicon Valley. Directly east and across the bay is East Bay, with North Bay and Northeast bay directly north of the city and across the Golden Gate Bridge.
