San Jose

The financial and cultural center of Silicon Valley

Downtown San Jose is a very walkable area, but if you don't feel like walking, the lightrail runs right through it with several stops through the city. Rated the safest metropolitan city in the US, traveling by foot in the evening is generally very safe, however, it's still a big city so caution and common sense are encouraged. Filled with hip, new high-rise apartments, Downtown San Jose draws quite a few young professionals who desire an urban lifestyle without the commute from San Francisco.

Downtown San Jose is in the heart of the Silicon Valley right off of the 680/280/87 interchange. Due to its central location, it's easy to pop in for a nice lunch or romantic dinner. Because of its ideal location, you can easily get from San Jose to San Francisco, to the mountains, or to the coast for a day at the beach.
