One of DC’s oldest areas, full of history and politics
Capitol Hill is a generally quiet area with many young families. It is within walking distance to restaurants, shops, bars and parks as well as great public transportation. There are many apartment buildings and row houses converted to apartments in this area as well as Victorian homes dating back to the first days of Washington DC.
Capitol Hill has Anacostia River to the east, Navy Yard to the south and the H St. corridor to the north and flanked with the National Mall to the west. This neighborhood is in the shadow of the US Capitol and has tree-lined streets, row houses and small mom and pop stores on many street corners. It is an eclectic area with easy access to unique shops. This area is also perfect for anyone who works on the hill and is only a 10-15 minute walk Pennsylvania Ave and Eastern Market.
