New York Cares

We’ve had a number of people mention lately that they’d like to donate or somehow help out with cleanup in and around New York City after Hurricane Sandy.  There are a variety of ways to do this of course, but one that we liked especially was www.newyorkcares.org.  This organization was founded by a group of friends in the late 1980′s who were concerned about a number of social issues that faced the city at that time.

Today, New York Cares is the city’s largest volunteer organization, running volunteer programs for 1,300 nonprofits, agencies and public schools. Over 56,000 people volunteer with them year after year.

According to their most recent website data – they’ve had 7,649 volunteers working on 84 different projects in and around the city focused on helping the victims of the damage from Hurricane Sandy.  If you are interested in learning more about them, volunteering or just donating  - please visit their website at www.newyorkcares.org.
